Use Verbs in Email Subject Lines to Improve Responsiveness

We are all inundated with email.

We scan our inbox for two things:

  1. who is the sender
  2. what does the subject line say
Most subject lines include just nouns, naming a thing or describing the email contents.

Try using verbs at the beginning of the email. Begin the subject line with the action you need the recipient to take.

Spend a little time crafting action oriented, useful and helpful subject lines. Your emails will be more likely to get attention and be acted upon.

I use my email folders to store and retrieve messages.

The better the subject line the easier things are to find.
